West Forsyth Jazz Band

On Saturday, May 16, the West Forsyth Jazz Band played for the Music Under the Stars concert series at Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Under the direction of Chris Garmon, the band performed a variety of jazz pieces throughout the evening, including solos by a number of instrumentalists.

The students and adults playing in the jazz band obviously enjoy making music and sharing it with others. When you look at the evening’s photos in the photo gallery, you can see the passion and enthusiasm in their eyes. That passion coupled with skill is what makes their music so enjoyable.

In the NEXT SECTION, take a look at a few of my favorite shots of the band. You’ll also find a link to the rest of the photos in the photo gallery.

To the Jazz Band — My apologies for not getting your names to include in the captions above. Even so, I hope you enjoy the photos of you here in the blog and in the photo gallery. You’re a very talented bunch. May you continue to enjoy and share your music for years to come!

What matters is not what you photograph, but why and how you photograph it. Even the most controversial subject, if depicted by a sensitive photographer with honesty, sympathy, and understanding, can be transformed into an emotionally rewarding experience. —Andreas Feininger
