The Kazoobie Kazoo Show

Exceptional Fun for Everyone
Rick Hubbard invented the word, “kazoobie,” to describe the type of family entertainment that he’s been providing for more than a decade. Rick says that “kazoobie” means “exceptional, fun and involving everyone.” And that’s exactly what occurred last Friday evening (August 14, 2009) on the Starlight Movie Nite at Shallowford Square in Lewisville.
Preceding the evening movie, The Kazoobie Kazoo Show — Rick Hubbard’s one-man band — kicked off the evening with a steady stream of entertaining moments. Kids and adults joined Rick on stage at the pavilion for what Rick describes as “K-A-O-S” — that is, “Kids Appearing On Stage” and “Kool Adults On Stage.”
For more than an hour, Rick performed non-stop on his electric guitar, banjo, steel drum and, of course, his signature kazoo. From the smallest of children to some very “kool” adults, there was plenty of energetic dancing, singing, shaking and bubble blowing. Everyone had fun at The Kazoobie Kazoo Show!
Starlight Movie Nite
Following The Kazoobie Kazoo Show, the movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, played at Shallowford Square. The Town of Lewisville will present its final movie of the season, Evan Almighty (PG), on Friday, September 25. (Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Concessions will be available.)

She’s Country
Nashville recording artist, Tammie Davis, headlined this summer's second Music Under the Stars concert at Shallowford Square in Lewisville, North Carolina.
Music at the Square
Singer-songwriter Tammie Davis and her band rolled into the Town of Lewisville, North Carolina last Saturday evening (August 8, 2009) for the town’s second Music Under the Stars summer concert. Originally from Lincolnton, North Carolina, Tammie now lives in Clemmons with her husband Mike.
For nearly two hours, Tammie and her band filled Shallowford Square with some sweet and sassy music that included Country, Southern Rock, and Americana selections.
SPECIAL GUEST
During the band’s intermission, 12-year-old CiCi Jansen from Charlotte belted out a few of her “new Country” favorites to an appreciative audience. CiCi has been winning music competitions lately, and she especially likes the music of Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.

You gotta have popcorn with a movie, right? And where better to enjoy some poppin’ fresh kernels than at Lewisville’s Starlight Movie Nite at Shallowford Square?
This month’s Starlight Movie Nite (held on July 17, 2009) featured the movie, Iron Man. As always, members of the town’s staff were on hand, serving up popcorn, hot dogs, sodas and other concessions under the pavilion.
Upcoming Starlight Movie Nites
Be sure to mark your calendars for the remaining Starlight Movie Nites for the year. They’re held on Friday evenings at Shallowford Square, and they begin at dusk. Bring a lawn chair or blanket — and some of your favorite people — to enjoy a FREE outdoor movie at the Square!

Fun on the Fourth
The Downtown Band helped Lewisville rock, swing and roll to a wide variety of musical favorites throughout the July Fourth Celebration in Shallowford Square.
Small Town, Big Celebration
Lewisville may be a small town, but we sure know how to celebrate the Fourth of July. The ingredients are simple: good music, a lawn chair or blanket, some good eats, and people who enjoy being with each other. Oh, and spectacular fireworks, too!
This year’s big Fourth of July Celebration in Shallowford Square featured The DownTown Band playing non-stop under the pavilion till the last blast of the fireworks later in the evening. The band’s range of pop and southern and classic rock offered something for almost everyone.
As the evening wore on, the crowd had grown until it seemed that Shallowford Square could hold no more. Yet the celebration wasn’t limited to the Square. Folks had gathered all along the main thoroughfare through Lewisville and along nearby side streets to celebrate the Fourth of July with family and friends.
At some point during the fireworks display, the band performed Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” The song reminded me of the privilege we have to gather freely, to celebrate the foundations of our country — and even to have fun on the Fourth of July.
