About Deb Phillips

Introducing Deb Phillips – The Photo Gal

Photos of photographer, Deb PhillipsSpacer

I’m Deb Phillips – The Photo Gal — and I’m looking for adventure and inspiration in the small town of Lewisville, North Carolina!

I’m also a “homegrown” Lewisville gal who left town many years ago for college, grad school and work. Yet here I am again, right back where I started. Life is like that sometimes.

If you haven’t picked up on it yet, I love my little town. It’s like a living organism to me — with so much life beating in it. It’s also where my family — the Jennings family, associated with Lewisville Roller Mills — two generations before me, made a home and a new life for themselves. (To read more on my family’s local history and to see quite a few historical photos, be sure to visit my article titled Lewisville Roller Mills: One Family’s Story.)

I once felt that really living required moving to a big city, to another country, or to some exotic locale. But I now feel that right where I am is where life is.SpacerSpacer

Education and Professional Experience

Since I’ve not remained on one particular path in my education or career, I rather like the line from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings: “Not all those who wander are lost.” My education includes degrees and training in church ministries, photojournalism, journalism, and graphic design. My work experience has also varied — having worked for a tobacco company, Christian school, airline, printing company, and most recently working as a freelance graphic artist.Blue dividerSpacer

New Direction

With the launch of this website, I’ve moved into the blogosphere and into a more photography-centric phase of my career. In addition to maintaining this website and promoting community interaction within the blog, I’ll be focusing on several photographic areas: Event, Documentary, Children’s and Fine Art Photography.

A separate website focusing on my personal photography is currently in the works. I’ll let you know when it goes live, and will put a link to it from this site. Meanwhile, if you’re interested in learning more about my photography services, please visit my Services page on this website.Blue divider
